James Steinle is a singer-songwriter from Pleasanton, Texas. A 9th-generation Texan, James was raised in the South Texas brush country in a ranching family, but spent many of his formative years living overseas in Saudi Arabia and Germany. The influence of geography is evident in James’ songs: compositions that evoke a strong sense of place and a deep, visual understanding of the landscapes, cultures, and experiences that Steinle has lived and observed. Fans of Guy Clark’s storytelling, Cormac McCarthy’s vivid imagery, and the subjects of old cowboy poetry will appreciate James’ intentional and honest approach to songwriting and the sound that comes with it, as beautiful and rugged as the region he comes from. Since moving to Austin, Texas in 2011, James has carved out a reputation as a songwriter’s songwriter among his peers near and far.
